A former manager of Macallan, Glenlivet and Wishaw distilleries, and leaseholder of Glenfarclas distillery – he persuades his landlord, Sir George Macpherson-Grant, to lease him the land to build a new distillery at Ballindalloch beside the Strathspey railway line.
